Whispp attracted seed round funding from investor LUMO Labs with co-investments from Leiden University Holding (LEH) and other angel investors.
Whispp’s speech technology on smartphones and computers converts whispered speech and vocal cord-impaired speech into a person’s natural voice in real-time, with the intonation and emotion the speaker intends. The Whispp mobile app enables users to make themselves heard with their smartphone, everywhere and in every conversation, even with background noise. Users maintain their freedom of movement because their conversational partner(s) hear them via wireless earbuds or a wireless speaker.
The technology also works for (non-patient) consumers who want or need to speak quietly on a phone or video conference and want to keep their conversation private or not disturb others around them. A short video on Whispp’s technology can be found here.
Whispp demo’ed their technology and smart speech amplifier app at CES 2023 from January 5 – 8, 2023, at the Venetian Expo. Whispp’s AI-powered speech technology has the ability to aid the more than 500,000 people in the U.S. who have severe issues with voice disorders or stuttering.
Whispp’s seed round funding follows earlier pre-seed funding rounds. BVDV advocaten & fiscalisten (Paul Passenier, Mischa Lokhoff) advised Whispp in pre-seed and seed round funding.
